Room Makeover in Gray Owl
Ok I'll admit I didn't exactly take this at the opportune time. I was majorly cleaning out the closet which up until this point had everything I didn't really need to unpack stacked to the ceiling. But it give you an idea. The color wasn't too terrible, but it had a lot of holes in the wall and hadn't full covered the previous purple, blues, and greens the walls had once been. I decided a few weeks ago I wanted to redo the guest bedroom.
This closet was just a disaster, as I mentioned. I brought like 5 boxes to goodwill cleaning this thing out. The paint in there was awful. It had an ugly door on it too which I unscrewed and took off (unfortunately the night before these pics). It made the room look way more open.
As you can see, although previous owners had painted the trim white, they had done it rather shoddily without full coverage. So that was on my list.
I spent a long time on this; I grew kind of obsessed with it being perfect. I had the past two weeks off and really wanted to do it right. I patched all the holes and taped everything off.
Naturally the dogs were present and in Cookie's case helpfully assisting at all times (NOT). Cookie was eating the tape, running under the bed with treasures such as screwdrivers and packaging, and even trying to lick the walls. Let's just say she didn't stay there the whole time I was painting.
Here is our first glimpse at progress! I chose Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore after some research and suggestions from photographer ladies on a forum I belong to. Of course I chose gray; I'm a photographer! My office is gray too, though I like this grey more than my office (which is more blue).
All put together! I bought new rods and curtains from Target. We already had the bedding.
I took the blinds off the windows. I was kinda nervous about that. But they were rather ugly and unused anyways. I love it without!
Look at that closet! SO. MUCH. BETTER. I might get a half curtain at some point, but it's good for now!
I became so obsessed with perfection that I went to home depot and bought new grate covers for the heating that were white instead of cream and new white outlet covers.
I painted the closet and the trim and the shelving
The dogs of course love the new room.
I swear I'm not chewing on Panda's tail.
